American Tap Dance Foundation (ATDF) is a non-profit organization committed to establishing and legitimizing Tap Dance as a vital component of American Dance through creation, presentation, education and preservation.
All gala proceeds support the Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund which provides accessibility to American Tap Dance Foundation’s youth education programs.
The ongoing tap classes for children ages 3 1/2 -19 develop critical skills that enhance academic and personal achievement, performance and presentation, practice and persistence, individual and collaborative negotiation skills.
Tap City Youth Ensemble is made up of young dancers, ages 9 to 19, from the New York City area and beyond. Dancers are selected by audition. The Ensemble provides serious tap students the opportunity to work with professional choreographers to learn works of classic and contemporary tap repertory. The ensemble rehearses weekly and performs in numerous venues in NYC.
