Laugh Out Loud for Project Sunshine

Jen Goldberg, Stacy Medovitch, Emily Daman, and Michael Gilson

August 14, 2008 – Last Thursday night found Project Sunshine’s young leadership community having a laugh to support Project Sunshine’s programs for children facing medical challenges and their families. Held at the Comic Strip Live in the Upper East.

The event featured a hilarious comedy lineup hosted by Ray Ellin and ended with a raffle with exciting prizes. Jessica Suckerman, Rachel Blumengold and Eli Lunzer served as the event’s co-chairs. Project Sunshine’s young leadership evenings are important as they raise valuable funds and awareness while providing this important community with a chance to have a fun night out.

Founded just over ten years ago by one college student, Project Sunshine has grown into a global network of volunteers who bring free educational, recreational and social programs to children and families in hospitals.

In the past decade, Project Sunshine has grown to include over 3000 volunteer events annually in 33 states and 75 cities across the United States, Canada, China, Israel, Kenya, and Puerto Rico, each run by volunteers who donate their time, energy and skills to help children and families cope with the stresses of living with a medical difficulty. Volunteers engage children in arts and crafts activities, tutoring, entertainment and special events. Through an ongoing partnership with Origins Natural Resources, volunteers also provide stress relief to parents with in-hospital mini-spas. www.projectsunshine.org
